Darrin is a happy man. He has a great life: perfect wife, secure job, upscale house, decent friends. He doesn’t want to change a thing.

Until he gets fired and starts seeing weird blue mist everywhere he goes.

After one fever-induced trip through the mist, Darrin realizes, for some unknown reason, he can time travel. With his job gone and his marriage beginning to look rocky, he knows he has the one chance that no one else does, to go back in time and get it right.

Do you have any regrets in life that you would go back and change?

As we all know, time travel is tricky and very dangerous. One change of one tiny decision might affect the whole course of your life. You might think that’s a good thing at first, until you change that decision. Doctor Who, one of my all-time favorite shows, stresses this in almost every episode they go back in time. Somehow, they still end up changing things, at least a little, or find someone else who is trying to change things. However, the concept and ideas are intriguing, not to mention the cool historical events we get to watch that also include random alien invasions!

Darrin’s strange powers lead him from decision to decision, further and further back in time until he can no longer recognize his life at all. He wonders if the worst decision he ever made was even using his powers at all. Can he find a way to fix it all before he goes back too far?

In this two-part Novelette series, I explore the fascinating topic of time travel and the dangers of using time-travel with arrogance and ignorance. Time-travel is a topic touched on by many sci-fi and fantasy writers. Even in the most recent Avengers movie, time-travel was a huge theme. It is something that fascinates us humans. We think if only we could fix the past, the present and future would work out.

I wonder what would happen if we spent as much time obsessing about fixing the present as we do about how we could have fixed the past?

What do you think? Would you go back in time if you could travel in time? If not, why? Comment below! Follow me on social media for more news about this story. I’ll be setting up a title poll very soon to see what you guys think!
